So Scott and I just got back from an amazing trip. Hawaii has always been our number one destination dream spot and we finally made it a reality. We celebrated our tenth anniversary while in Hawaii. Here is a very quick snapshot of some of our trip. Here we are flying out of Atlanta early Monday morning. We were so excited, but had about 11 hours worth of flying before we would land in Maui.
We landed in Maui about 3pm their time and got our rental jeep and then headed to our resort. We made a stop along the way at this gorgeous cliff and decided to get our first official Maui picture.
Tuesday we did some sight seeing. Then went to bed pretty early because we had to be up at 1:30 to get ready for our sunrise/bike adventure that would happen super early Wednesday morning. We left the resort about 2:30am in order to make it to the bike shop by 3:30am. Here we are before boarding the van that would take us to the top of the volcano. It was a fun trip because of the tour guide/history part they told as we drove to the top.
Here we are above the clouds watching the sun rise. It was breathtaking and just another way that we serve a creative God.
Here we are at the top of the volcano after the sun has risen. It was a good 30 degrees cooler up there so we were thankful for our bike gear to keep us a little warm.
We got back in the van and rode down a short distance before getting out and onto our bike to ride the rest of the way down the volcano. It was pretty steep, curvy, and fast to begin with but then we got on back country roads and it was a much more relaxed bike ride.
After our bike ride, we made it back to the resort and crashed for a nap. After we woke up, we got ready to walk to a nearby shopping/eating village.
Thursday, we stayed at the pool all day before getting ready to go to a luau at our resort. We made sure to book the luau on our actual anniversary. Here is a pic from the center part of our resort looking out at the ocean. It had awesome views.
Here we are about to walk over to the luau. The food was just alright, but the show was amazing and worth the money spent to have the closest table for the show.
On Friday, we went and did more sight seeing. We took the top off the jeep for our drive.
Saturday, we had reservations at a highly recommended restaurant. It did not disappoint. The atmosphere, view, food, and service were all so great! Here is our view out the window by the two person table where we ate our lunch.
Here we are outside of the restaurant by the ocean.
And here we are by the entrance boat sign to the restaurant.
Here we are leaving out Sunday to head to the airport. We decided to stop at the same place where we took our first picture of our trip to also take the last picture of our trip. It was the best trip and we are looking forward to our next trip back to Maui. Emma wants to join us on our next trip to Hawaii. :)
