Not Quite True

We recently got Emma some cute birdy pajamas. They also came with another matching shirt and pants. My brother was picking at us because she kept getting her legs caught in the grey/white pajamas and he said she looked like she just left jail since they were striped. Sweet brother, I know! :)
The shirt says, "Mommy's early bird." It is not true for Emma. If anything, she is our night owl. She normally sleeps until Scott wakes her up between 7:45-8:00. She is always still asleep when I leave for work. On the weekends, it is not uncommon for her to wake up around 8:00, drink some milk, and then go back to sleep with us until 9:30-10:00.
These are some pictures I took of her playing in her room tonight after bath time. She just recently stated giving us high 5's. It is so cute!!

Family Pictures

We (along with Brandon/Krista) saved money to pay a friend of ours to take pictures of all of us with my mom. It was part of her Christmas present. We postponed it several time since mom was visiting with her biological family for the first time. :) We went on January 28th to Chehaw Park to take the pictures. The weather was great. Emma had a few mini meltdowns, but I am sure that is expected of a one year old on a two hour photo shoot. Our photographer was great!!! We recently got the CD of pictures back and they turned out amazing. We need to get family pictures more often. Scott is normally the one who takes them and he is constantly having to run back/forth from the camera to get in position. It is not very fun for him. He was able to relax and enjoy these pictures. Here are some of my favorites!!

First Haircut

We took Emma yesterday after I got off work to get her first real haircut. Scott and I cut the back of her hair when she was little because it was getting too long compared to the rest of her hair. We took her to where we get our hair cut. She did so great. I warned our hairdresser that Emma might give her stare-downs because she did with the guy that fitted her for her first pair of shoes. Scott brought her some puffs and she ate those the whole time and let Monica do her thing. Emma still has a lot of baby fine/frizzy hair. We were so proud of our sweet girl!! The first picture is of her two days before getting her hair cut.....look at her sides!! The rest were taken during her haircut.

13 Months Old

I can't believe it has already been a month since Emma's big ladybug party. She has such a fun personality. She loves to "read" and "talk." Some of her favorite words she is saying now are: hello, she said bless you one time, mama, dada, what sounds like baby, and dog. She will sit and play and will whisper. It is so cute! While she bathes, she will touch her soap and will then pretend to wash her arm. She also started pretending to wash her hair. She is picking up a lot of what we do daily with her.

The Tooth Fairy Will Love Her

We put some toothpaste for toddlers on Emma's toothbrush and give it to her while we change her diaper in the morning and at night and she loves it. We do it for several reasons. One being that we want her to have clean and healthy teeth and two because it keeps her occupied while we change her diaper!!! : ) Here are some pictures my mom captured today of her brushing her teeth.
I love how she is holding her thumb in some of these pictures.

Wonderful Weekend

We have had such a nice weekend without doing all that much. On Saturday, we went to look at a house we might want to build one day. We loved this house and think it might be perfect for us down the road. This picture was taken of Emma in what would be her room in the house. She loved standing in front of the big window. She has just recently gotten comfortable standing. When she finally decided to crawl, she took off. She is doing the same thing with standing. She went from not standing to standing up everywhere, on the couch, on the bed, and anywhere else she can. We cannot blink. I know she is going to go from not walking to walking like crazy.
Then today we had my family over for lunch. We kept it simple with pizza and salad. These were taken while we were waiting on the pizza. This girl knows she loves these puffs. I can't believe how grown looking she looks in these pictures. I guess she is technically not a baby anymore and is officially a toddler. : (
We all went to Lowe's to look at some tile and countertops that Brandon and Krista are wanting to put into their kitchen. Then we went to show them the house we love. Emma and I came home and crashed for an hour and half nap. We woke up and she ate a grilled cheese for the first time. Then she played in the living room. She went to her toy container and stood up to get some toys out.
And this is the mess the left us to clean up when she went to bed. She loves books and magazines and had a hay day on the floor with these magazines.
